Biomedical ServicesFireflower delivers centralized information management services from ‘resource centres’ which deal with different aspects of research, practice and administration in biomedicine. Fireflower is developing Parasite/Pathogen Resource Information Management (PRIM) centres to provide fully integrated research facilities for all aspects of infectious disease. The centres will be globally dispersed but will act as one, since data is constantly mirrored between them. Use of the PRIM centres will be through Internet portals in well known health research institutes. The centres will use specialized Fireflower software for work on different types of pathogens. They will host the work of different teams securely. However, they will have the ability to integrate any specific work, designated by the owners of that work, with the ever growing datasets available for future research by third parties at the PRIM Centre. It is our intention is to diversify the number of portals to build a global network of sub-centres to improve response time locally, and to give all users global search and sharing facilities. Detailed Personal Profile Data (PPD), and detailed Adverse Food and Drug Reaction (FARR) records are also stored at the PRIM Centre. Fireflower is also developing Integrated Medical Information Management (IMIM) centres projected for provincial use to serve individual patients, family clinics and hospitals on-line. Individual patient medical records will then be always up to date and accessible anywhere in the world in different languages. Patients can travel outside the country of their domicile and know that their medical record can be seen and edited instantly, by authorized doctors in any country, in any language, over the internet by using a unique ID provided by the patient. |
