Fireflower has recently begun work with the EU-CONTRAST project, co-ordinated jointly by the DBL-Centre for Health Research & Development in Copenhagen, Denmark, and the Wolfson Wellcome Biomedical Laboratory in London, UK. This project is funded by the European Union. Fireflower will provide real time integration and sharing of field and laboratory work between seven countries in sub-Saharan Africa and four countries in Europe. CONTRAST is a multi-disciplinary project for optimized schistosomiasis control and transmission surveillance in sub-Saharan Africa.

Fireflower has also recently undertaken communication projects for the World Federation of Parasitologists which provides access for biomedical researchers to all significant parasitology societies, which it brings together through its web-site.

Following meetings with the Swiss Tropical Institute in Basel, Switzerland, and researchers from the Ifakara Health Research & Development Centre (IHRDC) in Tanzania, Fireflower will begin scoping projects to bring together, in an integrated searchable form, all the health research projects completed by IHRDC between 1996-2006. Fireflower will also develop new systems for collecting and managing new demographic and epidemiological data for IHRDC.

Fireflower has now partnerships with three WHO collaborating centres in Nanjing, London and Ifakara.
